Summary
The classic ARKANOID comes back to life in HD! Destroy every block on screen in ARKANOID Live! by bouncing an Energy Ball against them with your Vaus! It's the all-time classic arcade game now with achievements and multiplayer co-op play over Xbox Live. Arcade classic: ARKANOID was one of the all-time classic arcade games that sparked a huge number of imitators. Now you can play the game in glorious high-def. Tons of gameplay: The full version contains 62 rounds divided into two episodes that can be played under either Lives Rules or Barrier Rules. A boss awaits you in the last round of each episode: DOH, as well as a new boss, SKULL. Multiplayer: Defeat the game with a friend in co-op play or compete online against other players over Xbox LIVE and aim for the top. [Taito]

IGN
Arkanoid's a fun game that can best be described as looking a little "frumpy" on XBLA.

In addition to the welcome multiplayer action featured in Arkanoid Live!, Taito also included a rule set different than original coin-op version.

Arkanoid is Breakout without the boredom. Well, without as much. [May 2009, p.83]
GameSpot
This XBLA update of the classic brick-breaker is let down by poor presentation and imprecise controls.

Space Invaders Extreme took basic game play into an enjoyable online extravaganza; Arkanoid Live hasn’t really evolved Arkanoid at all. In fact, apart from the little polish on the menu and a multiplayer option, the game is pretty much the same as I played 15 years ago!

Of the two Taito releases this is the weaker with little new on offer to tempt fans of the classic and new gamers to the world of Arkanoid.

A solid enough conversion. [Issue#46, p.101]
1UP
Arkanoid Live is good for some occasional casual fun -- as it's always been and always will be -- but with an iffy aesthetic and not much more variety outside of a standard two-player versus mode, it's probably not something you'll want to boot up often.

Laughably outdated and, worse, overpriced. [Aug 2009, p.103]
