Summary
[Xbox Live Arcade] In Comix Zone, Sketch Turner is an artist in New York City. One day Sketch is drawing, and a huge thunderstorm threatens the city. A bolt of lightning hits Sketch's image, and brings it to life. That image is Mortus, a megalomaniac mutant who wants to become real and to rule the earth. Mortus magically transports Sketch into the pages of his comic book so that he can end his creator's life and become real. Inside the comic book, Sketch meets General Alissa Cyan, who believes Sketch is a superhero come to save their post-apocalyptic world from the evil brought by Mortus' hand. Now that he's a comic book superhero, Sketch can instantly fight like a one-man mercenary platoon! Multiple game modes: Play all five game modes, and save your progress as you continue your quest. Eurogamer
The game is arguably a little too tough, with plenty of ways to lose health but few to top it back up again, and there are a couple of precision do-or-die leaps that act as stark reminders of the game's unforgiving vintage. Those caveats aside, Comix Zone still impresses with its ideas and execution and is a definite highlight of SEGA's retro line-up.

Misunderstood. [Issue#48, p.98]
IGN
The "enhanced" visual setting makes the game look worse than the classic view and the dodge move is almost impossible to pull off.

E. B. gave it a9:
One of the last truly great Genesis games. A 2d beat em up with a twist, jumping around sketches in a comic book, complete with amazing animation and top notch combat. It has aged well and theres definitely a challenge in completing the game. Highly recommended!
