Ultimate Team is the perfect excuse to revisit FIFA 09, the best soccer simulation of the year. We hope this time that with the big name of FIFA it doesn't go unnoticed as it did in its first iteration with the UEFA Champions League game.

FIFA 09 Ultimate Team is a good add-on for the original game. It isn't original, because it comes from Uefa Champions 2006/2007; but it adds new unlockable hairstyles, tattoos and other funny things. Someone could dislike the presence of the arcade-style bonus cards, but the real issue is that sometimes the Ultimate Team will simply not work because of the EA servers status. Despite some problems, this DLC is a good purchase for any FIFA09 player, provided that he has sympathy for collectible cars and the arcade functions intrinsic in the new game mode.

It's fun in bursts, but you're likely to find that Ultimate Team is more a short-lived novelty than an addition that will significantly heighten your enjoyment of what is already the best football sim on the market.

When it works, it’s great fun and, just like the stickers, will undoubtedly hook many people in – as long as they accept its shortfalls.

Joe K gave it a5:
You can knock that up to a nine when EA decide to actually make it work but at the moment it is an absolute mess. Lag, crashing and problems connecting are just the start of the problems and when you get to the game breaking ones like not being able to progress in a tournament because it doesn't register you pressing the buttons or the fact that your players simply vanish make this game almost completely broken. I am sure they must release a patch to fix it but as it is at the moment this peace of DLC is an embarrassment to the people who created it.
