Battleship is actually more enjoyable as a downloadable game than as a board game. Fun sound effects, an attractive board with ships that sink, and even gently rolling water make this a sweet looking game.

EA Bright Light did about as good a job as a team can do when working with the classic games of many of our childhoods. It’s a delicate job, but HFGN pulls off classic-board gaming with aplomb, while at the same time adding more video game-centric modes to each title.

As a translation of the board game, Battleship delivers exactly what it promises, along with a little bit more.

Despite a few flaws and one ill-conceived megamix, these games are treated with the respect they deserve at a price we’re willing to pay. We’re happy to see them on Arcade where they belong.

The problem is for as fun as Battleship might be, its longevity is very limited. After a game or two, odds are you’ve played enough for one day, and very few will find themselves coming back for more. For $10, though, it might be worth picking up for a rainy day.

Out of all the experiences in Family Game Night Battleship is the hardest to recommend. Playing by the honor system is not always what it is cracked up to be, and there are often times where finding a solid online opponent will prove to be more trouble than it's worth.

Battleship is a greatly rainy day title that emulates the fun of the classic Hasbro board game... without emulating the loss of a game piece or two.

Thanks to great sound effects and a nice amount of visual flair, it’s actually quite satisfying to sink an enemy vessel in Battleship.

It’s a shame I can’t recommend this download, as it is entertaining to dabble with while you wait for other people to come online, have a chat with a mate or kill some time between downloads.

Even at a lower price point this game offers very little to justify spending any money on it as the likelihood that you will return to play very frequently is slim to none.

Chuck F gave it a2:
This game had absolutely NOTHING to do with family and is grossly misrepresented by EA. Unless every member of your family happens to have a xbox with a internet connection there isn't any way to play multi-player with the family on any of these games. Returned to the store.
